Description

The Emuss memorial is a chest tomb located about 11 yards east of the chancel of the Church of St Mary the Virgin. It dates from the early 19th century and is made of sandstone ashlar. The tomb features a moulded plinth, hipped capping, fluted corner pilasters, and inscription panels with recessed borders. It commemorates William Emuss, who died in 1814. This memorial is one of several chest tombs in the prominent hilltop churchyard, alongside the Farmer memorial and the Thomas memorial.
