Description

This chest tomb, located about 70 yards south of the nave of the Church of St Mary the Virgin, likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed from ashlar stone and features a moulded plinth and cornice topped with a raised hipped capping. The tomb has rebated corners and a panelled frieze. On each side, there are large oval relief panels shaped like urns, complete with ornate scrolled handles, and there are shaped inscription panels at both ends, although the inscriptions are now illegible.
