Description
No. 26 High Street is a house that dates from the early 18th century and was remodeled in the early 19th century, with some late 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of lias rubble with stone quoins and has a machine tile roof. The building is in an L-plan, with one wing projecting to the east towards the road and the other wing extending to the north, featuring a gable-end stack.
The north front has a blind gabled wing on the right side. The house is two storeys tall and has two windows: a boxed glazing bar sash on the left and a boxed 16-pane sash on the right, with a blocked window situated between them. On the ground floor, there is a tripartite sash window under a brick segmental head to the left, and to the right is the entrance, which features a pilastered wooden doorcase with an open pediment, a blind fanlight, and a six-panel door. Additionally, there are two segmental-headed tripartite sashes located in the re-entrant angle of the north wing.
