Description
No. 20 High Street is a house and shop dating from the mid to late 18th century, with some alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with a painted ground floor. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features painted brick dogtooth eaves and a shared end stack on the left side.
The building has three storeys and a two-window range. The first floor has 6/6 sash windows, while the second floor has smaller 3/3 sash windows, all of which are adorned with painted channelled voussoirs, keystones, and sills. In the center of the first floor, there is an iron sign bracket. The ground floor features a corniced fascia, with a shopfront that includes two plate-glazed bay windows with corner mullions, decorative arched heads, and moulded sills, flanking a plate glass door that has a decorative head and a shallow overlight. There is an additional entrance at the right end, which has an overlight and a six-panel door.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, this building was formerly a cobbler's shop, and the left-hand shop window still retains an imprint on the glass.
