Description
30 High Street is a house that has been converted into a shop with offices. It dates from the mid-18th century and has undergone later additions and alterations, including stucco added to the front facade around 1800 to 1820 and a ground-floor shop front from the 1980s. The building is constructed of stucco over brick and has a plain tile roof with a brick stack at the left end.
The structure is four storeys tall and features three windows on the first floor. The first floor has 2/2 horned sash windows, the second floor has 6/6 sash windows, and the third floor has 3/3 sash windows. All windows are set in shallow plain reveals and have sills with raised, coped keystones that include an incised panel. Between the first and second-floor windows, there is an incised panel with a key-fret design. The building is topped with a crowning frieze and a moulded cornice. The ground floor features a plate-glass shop front that is canted in towards a central glazed entrance, flanked by end pilasters and topped with a fascia.
The interior has not been inspected. This building, along with Nos 25, 26, 27, and 30-34, forms part of a notable group of listed buildings on the High Street, which includes the Guildhall.
