Description
This building, located at 33 High Street, is a late 18th-century house that has been converted into a shop with offices above. It features later additions and alterations, including a mid-19th-century shop front on the ground floor. The structure is made of red brick, showcasing gauged brick flat arches and stone sills, topped with a plain tile roof that has a renewed brick stack on the left side.
The building stands four storeys tall and has three first-floor windows. The first and second floors are fitted with 6/6 flush sash windows, while the third floor has renewed flush windows with six fixed lights, all featuring flat arches and sills. The roofline is accentuated by a low coped parapet.
On the ground floor, there are glazed windows with renewed mullions set on panelled aprons, and the entrance is canted into a part-glazed door with margin lights, flanked by fluted end pilasters and a fascia. There is an additional entrance to the right, which consists of a 6-flush-beaded-panel door with a divided overlight and another similar pilaster to the right end.
The interior has not been inspected. This building, along with Nos 25, 26, 27, and 31-34, forms a notable group of listed buildings on the High Street, adjacent to the Guildhall.
