Description

The wrought-iron gates and railings at the forecourt of the Guildhall in Worcester were created in 1723. They feature a stone plinth and include central double gates with a cambered arch, which are adorned with bars and dogbars set between open piers that have scrolling embellishments and ornate caps. Above the gates is an ornate, scrolled overthrow. The railings extend approximately 10 metres to both the right and left, incorporating pedestrian gates at either end, with stanchions topped by orb finials. These gates and railings are a significant streetscape feature and are an integral part of the setting for the Guildhall.
