Description
The electricity junction box, dating from the early 20th century, was manufactured by Hardy and Padmore of Worcester. It is made of cast iron and has a square shape.
Located at the north-eastern corner of Gheluvelt Park, which is registered at Grade II, the junction box sits between the railings and a brick pillar, forming part of the park's boundary.
The box features a low pyramidal cap above a moulded cornice. It has two main elevations, each with doors that can be accessed from both Lavender Road and within Gheluvelt Park. The doors have moulded surrounds and display the magnet logo of the Worcester Electric Traction Company. Additionally, each door includes six small ventilation holes at the top and bottom. The junction box is placed on a two-stepped square base with rounded edges.
