Description
Rose Bank House is a house built in 1814 with later alterations. It features a stucco exterior over brick and a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has four first-floor windows. The first floor includes sashes with configurations of 8/8, 8/8, 6/6, and 8/8, while the ground floor has two 8/8 sashes. The entrance consists of a six-panel door with glazed upper panels, a fanlight with radial glazing bars, and a tooled architrave. The house has wide eaves.
Inside, the house retains its original joinery and plasterwork, including a staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail. Historically, it was built at the same time as Rose Hill House when the Dean and Chapter released land in this area for development. Rose Bank House is a good example of a Regency stucco house that maintains its original features. The houses were originally known as Rose House and Rose Lawn.
