Description
Laugherne House is a late 18th-century brick house located on Bransford Road, Worcester. The house is constructed of reddish-brown brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a hipped plain tile roof and two brick hip stacks, one to the right and one to the rear left, with an additional internal left stack. It is arranged in an L-shape, with a double depth and a central hallway.
The house is three storeys high with a three-window front. A decorative modillion eaves cornice runs around the entire building. The first floor features central French windows with a divided overlight, and otherwise eight-over-eight flush sash windows, all set within cambered arches. The second floor has four-over-four flush sash windows. The ground floor has a canted bay on the left with three-over-three sashes between one-over-one sashes, and further three-over-three sashes to the right, also under cambered arches. All windows have sills.
The central entrance is a part-glazed door with raised and fielded lower panels, upper glazed panels with margin lights, and a fanlight with Gothic glazing bars. It is within raised-and-fielded panel round-arched reveals and a roll-moulded architrave, topped by a timber balcony. The right-hand (garden) facade has a two-storey timber bay with six-over-six sashes between four-over-four sashes, alongside eight-over-eight sashes on the ground and first floors, and four-over-four sashes on the second floor, all again beneath cambered arches.
The interior has not been inspected.
