Description
Wick Episcopi is a late 17th-century house, altered in the early 19th century. It is located in Rushwick, Upper Wick. The house is constructed of painted brick and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high with an attic, arranged over six bays. A gable containing an attic window sits above the fourth bay. A stone Tuscan porch shelters the doorway, which is centrally placed in the fourth bay; a straight joint is visible to the left of the porch. A chimney is situated towards the right behind the ridge. A mid-20th century replacement roof with overhanging eaves obscures what was previously a roof line hidden behind a parapet.
The left-hand front room contains Adamesque decoration, which includes a frieze, a fireplace, two round-headed niches, and a border to the ceiling. The open-string staircase features three slim turned balusters to each tread, with a ramped handrail. The balusters form a spiral where they follow the curtail of the lower step.
