Description
Teme Court is a villa, now functioning as a nursing home, built around 1820 with later additions and alterations, including 20th-century extensions on both sides. The building is constructed of reddish-brown brick in Flemish bond, featuring red brick flat arches and a hipped slate roof. There are brick lateral stacks on the left and right sides with pots, and a stuccoed porch. The layout is a double depth plan with a central hall and a stairwell on the right side.
The villa has two storeys plus attics and three first-floor windows. It features 6/6 sash windows throughout, with the ground-floor windows being full height in plain reveals and having flat arches made of gauged brick, as well as sills. The ground-floor windows also have blind boxes. The central entrance consists of a four-panel, part-glazed door with sidelights and an overlight that includes glazing bars, all set within a Doric porch. The attics contain skylight windows. The right return features a 6/6 staircase sash window with radial glazing at the top, along with an 8/8 sash and another 6/6 sash, all with plain reveals and sills. The building has wide, moulded wood eaves, while the extensions on the right and left sides are of no special interest.
Inside, Teme Court retains its original joinery and plasterwork. The dog-leg staircase includes a wreathed handrail, stick balusters, and carved tread ends, while the service staircase also has stick balusters. The interior features moulded cornices and four-panel doors. The main bedroom on the first floor showcases an egg and dart cornice and fleurons in the ceiling frieze.
