Description
Nos. 31 and 33 are a pair of houses built around the 1840s, featuring attached railings and gates. They are constructed of brick in Flemish bond with stone sills, a slate roof, and brick party-wall stacks, complemented by wrought-iron railings and gates.
The exterior consists of three storeys with two first-floor windows arranged in a 1:1 pattern. The houses have a double-depth plan with a lobby entrance on the left side. The windows include 8/8 sashes on the round and first floors, and 4/8 sashes on the second floor, all set in plain reveals with flat arches made of gauged brick and stone sills. The entrances are identical, featuring steps leading up to six-panel doors. The lower two panels have bolection moulding, while the upper panels are raised and fielded. Each entrance is topped with a fanlight that has teardrop glazing bars. The chimney stacks have oversailing courses and pots.
The attached railings and gates display bars with arrowhead finials, with the left side being more ornate. This pair of houses is modest yet notably unaltered for its age.
