Description

This is a pair of lamp standards located approximately 7 metres to the west of the west front of the Church of St George. They were created between 1829 and 1887 and later converted to electricity. The lamp standards are made of cast iron and feature spearhead railings arranged as open columns. They have three levels of finials, topped with scrolls that support lamp-holders adorned with honeysuckle cresting. These lamp standards form a cohesive group with the Church of St George and with Nos 1 and 2 Sansome Place.
