Description
This is a house, built in 1854 and subsequently divided into two separate dwellings, located at 25 Graham Road and The Lodge, Back Lane, with associated railings. The building is constructed from Cradley stone rubble with Bathstone dressings, and granite rubble to a rear wing. It has a plain tile roof with ornate pierced bargeboards to the gables and crested ridge tiles, along with axial and gable-end chimneys, the brick shafts featuring battered bases and corbelled tops.
The main range has principal rooms on the front, with an entrance situated on the right-hand corner, leading to an axial stairhall. A rear service and stable wing has been converted into a separate dwelling, The Lodge. The building is in a Victorian Gothic style.
The east front is asymmetrical, with four windows and two large gables to the left, a smaller gable, and an ungabled bay to the right. It features two- and three-light mullion-transom windows. A small two-light window with cusped pointed arches is on the first floor to the right, while a large stone bay window with cusped lights sits on the ground floor to the left. There are ventilation slits in the gables and a double-chamfered pointed arched doorway to the right, with ornate cast-iron railings to the steps. A large raking buttress is situated between the central ground floor windows. The north elevation is gabled, with a service wing to the right, featuring a louvred bellcote.
The rear includes a stable and coach house, forming The Lodge, with a stable and coach house to the left and a house section to the right.
The interior retains much of the original joinery, including a Gothic staircase. It also features a Gothic stone chimneypiece, moulded plaster ceiling cornices and brass light brackets.
