Description
This lychgate, located about 60 yards north-east of the Church of St Michael, is probably from the 15th century. It features a timber frame set on a rubble base, with some brick repairs and a stone-tiled roof arranged in diminishing courses. The roof is supported by two arch-braced and chamfered tie-beam trusses, along with arch-braced wall-plates and swept wind-braces. The bargeboards are adorned with traceried reliefwork detailing. There is a central pair of timber gates equipped with old iron latches. The lychgate may have been reconstructed using parts from the former church porch.
