Description
The lych gate, located about 75 metres south-west of the Church of St Michael, is a porch that dates back to the 14th century and was re-erected and restored in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame with some rendered infill and a tiled roof. The structure consists of two framed bays aligned in a north-east/south-west direction. Each side wall has two windows with trefoiled lights. The gable ends have arch braces with blind tracery decoration that connect to the tie-beam. Above this, the truss includes a central strut and two raking struts leading to the collar, along with a single tier of purlins supported by curved wind-braces. This lych gate was originally the south porch of the adjoining church.
