Description
The churchyard cross, located about 12 yards south of the chancel of the Church of St Mary Magdalene, is likely from the 15th century and was restored in 1900. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a square base on three steps. The base has an arched niche on its south side, which is a common local feature, and the upper edges are bevelled, forming an octagonal top. The shaft is octagonal with a bevelled square base and a moulded capital that supports the cross. The base and the base of the shaft are medieval in origin. The structure was restored as a war memorial, which included the addition of the three steps and a renewed cross head.
