Description
Leigh Court is a house built in the mid- to late 19th century, with elements from the 17th and early 19th centuries. It is constructed of brick with some stone dressings and has a tiled roof. The building has two storeys and features a facade with two central gables that have crow-stepped stone copings. Each central gable has two sashed windows on the first floor. Flanking the facade are smaller gables, each above a single sashed first floor window.
On the ground floor, the left bay contains two sashed windows with glazing bars and segmental heads. Beneath the left central gable is a single-storey timber canted bay window with sashes that have glazing bars. Below the right central gable is a sashed window with glazing bars, next to a blocked window. The right bay features a single-storey canted timber bay window with casements that also have glazing bars. The doorway, situated between the two central gables, has a round head with a fanlight and a timber doorcase topped with an open pediment on brackets.
The presence of straight joints and variations in brick size indicates that some of the 17th-century structure remains. The gables have crow-stepped copings and gable chimneys with projecting stacks. At the rear, there is a parallel range. The building is included for its group value.
