Description
Lindridge Priory, originally shown on the OS map as a vicarage, is now a house dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries. The building is constructed of brick, with stuccoed side elevations and features a part-hipped plain tiled roof with large stacks on each side. It stands three storeys high with a cellar, showcasing a prominent moulded cornice at the front and a dentilled eaves cornice at the rear. The structure has five bays, with the central bay being wider and projecting forward. All windows have gauged flat heads; the ground and first floor windows are 12-pane sashes, while the second floor windows are 6-pane sashes. The central entrance is highlighted by a tall doorcase that includes a moulded cornice, entablature, and pilastered surround, along with a half-glazed door, a traceried fanlight, and reveals and soffit featuring raised and fielded panels. Inside, some original ceiling mouldings and doors remain, although the doorheads are 20th-century additions. The central hall contains an open well staircase with a moulded wreathed handrail. The mid-19th-century additions at the rear include a kitchen with original fittings.
