SO 83 NE HOLDFAST HOLDFAST 2/2 25-3-68 Holdfast Manor (formerly listed as GV Manor House)

House C1700 recasing earlier building and extended to rear c1800. Red brick with hipped plain tile roof. H plan 2 storey and attic. Projecting wings of one window range with hipped dormer, centre of 5 windows with 3 dormers and an eaves chimney stack. Centre has floor band. Wooden cross windows with gauged brick heads. One window range in return of wings. Windows of West wing different proportion to those of East wing. Projecting brick porch with pedimented doorcase a later addition. West side has 2 side wall stacks and long stair window. Rear centre apparently originally early C18 with parapet and stone cornice visible above early C19 3 window range with reset C18 doorcase. Side wings have coped parapets and sash windows with gauged brick heads, the left wing a recasing of earlier range, the right wing probably all early C19. Interior: one room with C17 beamed ceiling and stone fireplace. Early C18 staircase in West wing.
