Description
Stable Cottage is a converted stable block dating from around 1800, constructed of red brick with stone dressings and slate roofs. The building features a tall central section with a hipped roof that supports a wooden clock turret with a cupola. There is a stone eaves cornice and an arched central opening that has been glazed, with a stone impost band above it. The outer corners of the building are designed as recessed columns, which were originally stuccoed but are now mostly exposed red brick.
On each side of the central section, there are four-bay wings with hipped roofs at the ends and a moulded stone eaves cornice. The arches in these wings are made of gauged brick and have a stone impost band. On the left side, the arches contain glazed tympana, and the stone bands extend across. This side features three three-light windows and a door below. The arches on the right side have been replaced with modern windows that have locked heads. Each side also has a lower range of one window, topped with a stone cornice and imposts, and a broad cambered arch made of crude brickwork, which may have been rebuilt or intended to be stuccoed. Further additions beyond the main structure are not of interest.
