Description
The wellhead, located approximately 5 metres south-west of the Church of St Mary, was built in 1866. It is made of sandstone and wrought iron. The base consists of three hexagonal steps, and the coping is also hexagonal with a moulded lip. The wrought iron superstructure is supported by three legs. An iron ring with three spokes supports a hub with a pulley, and above this is a tripod topped with a finial. The entire structure is adorned with iron cresting and rosettes. This well was used in the construction of the Church of St Mary and is included for its group value.
