Description
The Red Lion Inn is an 18th-century building located on the northwest side of High Street. It stands three storeys tall and features a five-window facade made of red brick with painted stone dressings. The windows are sashes set in wide moulded cased frames that include key-blocks. There are moulded string-courses at the first and second floor levels, which project forward over the key-blocks. Above these is a plain string-course and cornice at the eaves. The central entrance is notable for its stone pediment and moulded architrave, leading to a four-panelled door. On the right side, there is a 19th-century plate glass shop front, while three original windows without glazing bars are located on the ground floor to the left of the entrance. The building has a machine tile roof. The Red Lion Inn is part of a group that includes Nos 67 to 75.
