Description
89A High Street is a house that dates from the 17th and 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building features a combination of timber framing and red brick. The eastern wing is timber-framed with brick infill, while the western wing is constructed of red brick and rendered on the first floor. The roofs are plain tiled, with stacks at each end of the western wing.
The structure has one and a half storeys on the left side and two storeys with a garret on the right. The left side has a cross-gable, with stone underbuilding on the right side of the ground floor, which includes a single two-light mullioned window and a garage door to the left. Above, there is a two-light garret window, along with a later inserted window to the right. A small window is located above to the right, positioned above the principal rafter where the gable end connects to the later wing on the right. The right-hand wing is set back slightly from the main façade.
There are platbands over both the ground and first floors, and the first floor features cross windows with segment-headed reveals. The ground floor has boarded-up windows with segmental relieving arches above. A low wing on the left connects No. 89A to No. 89, High Street.
