Description

Tettenhall Old Bridge is a canal bridge built in the 1770s, with a later widening to the south before 1820. It was designed by engineers Brindley, Simcock, and Dadford. The bridge is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a segmental arch on stone springers with a keystone. It has straight parapets with replaced coping and end piers. An oval iron plaque on the north side bears the inscription: "TETTENHALL OLD BRIDGE" and the number "61". This bridge originally carried the main Holyhead road until it was re-routed by Thomas Telford in the 1820s, and it is now part of Tettenhall Road and The Rock.
