Description

The Green House is a house dated 1794, with alterations made in the 19th century. The house is brick-built, featuring a hipped tile roof and brick stacks. It follows a double-depth plan with a central staircase. The building is three storeys high and has a three-window front. A top frieze and cornice adorn the facade, complemented by angle pilaster strips. The windows have rubbed brick flat arches and 12-pane sashes. The ground floor on the right features a hipped bay with casement windows, while the second floor has 6-pane sashes. The central round-headed entrance features panelled pilasters and a consoled open pediment, above a half-glazed door with a fanlight. The brickwork on the left end of the ground floor is inscribed with "IOHN GLOVER/ 1794". The left return has a canted hipped bay, with sashes incorporating small-paned upper sashes. A second-floor canted oriel features casement windows. The rear of the house displays a hipped stair wing and a single-storey wing, with two lateral stacks. Inside, the staircase has stick balusters, along with some 19th-century fireplaces and cornices.
