Description
The Bate Monument, located approximately 20 meters south of the Church of St Thomas in Wednesfield, is a memorial dedicated to members of the Bate family: Ann (who died in 1842), Jane (who died in 1868), and John (who died in 1876). The monument is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a square base that has remnants of railings, a tall battered plinth with inscription panels, and is topped with an acanthus moulding and a heavy gabled cap adorned with wreaths and a draped urn.
