Description

This is a house, likely dating from the 1830s, and now used as a restaurant. It is constructed of stuccoed brick and has a symmetrical design of three storeys and three bays. The front facade features flanking pilasters, a sill band on the first floor, pilasters rising from this band to define the middle bay, and a plain band below a blocking course at the top. The ground floor windows are sash windows with projecting sills. The upper floor windows are sash windows with architraves and no glazing bars. A doorway is approached by external steps with iron railings, and a pedimented Tuscan porch may not be original. The return wall on the left-hand side, facing Caldmore Road, is one bay wide and echoes the main facade, though the first and second floor windows are blind (without architraves), and the first floor window has a cornice supported by consoles. The building is part of a formal arrangement with the properties at numbers 32 and 33 Bradford Street.
