Description
Old Hall Farmhouse is a house that likely dates back to the early 17th century. It features a combination of timber-framing and brick construction topped with a tile roof, and has a double-depth plan. The building stands two storeys high with an attic, and it has a jettied section that is underbuilt with brick. The south-east wall is divided into three bays, with the outer bays displaying jettied gables that include attic windows. The timber framing consists of square panels with diagonal bracing, except for a band of close-studding above the former jetty. The door, located in the middle bay, has plain brick reveals. A chimney with multiple diagonal shafts is positioned behind the ridge, aligned with the door. At the rear, there are two gabled wings, with the southern wing featuring a wooden-mullioned stair window.
Inside, the left-hand room is adorned with 17th-century square panelling and a fluted frieze, and it includes an inglenook that has been blocked by a later fireplace. The right-hand room contains a chamfered main beam, a dragon beam, a brick inglenook with a bressumer, and an oak plank door with vertical battens.
