Description

Doe Bank Farmhouse and the attached farm building were built around 1800. The farmhouse is constructed of brick, primarily in English bond at the front, and features a hipped tile roof. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys tall. The main facade is symmetrical, with one bay on each side of a central gabled bay that projects slightly. There is a brick dentil course at the eaves. The windows are mostly modern casements, except for the left-hand ground floor window, which is a casement with Gothick glazing. The ground floor windows have brick labels, and the central first floor opening is blind with a segmental head. On either side of the doorway are narrower blind recesses with segmental heads. The doorway itself has a round head and is sheltered by a 20th-century brick and glass porch.

Chimneys are located on the end walls, with the right-hand cap partly demolished. The right-hand return wall is mainly constructed of stretcher bond and features irregularly spaced casement windows with glazing bars. There is one ground floor window with a segmental head, and on the first floor, there are three windows, with the left-hand one being narrow and having a similar head. To the right of the ground floor window is a door with a segmental head, and further right are two doors, one above the other, leading to a farm building that is part of the same range and built in the same style. A chimney is located on the ridge of the rear wing to the right of the left-hand first floor window.

Inside, the right-hand room of the front range contains a 19th-century staircase with a single straight flight, closed string, and sleek balusters. The rear wing features one exposed chamfered axial beam.
