Description
Great Barr Vicarage is a vicarage built in 1847 by Ewan Christian. It is constructed of red brick with blue bands and voussoirs, along with some sandstone dressings, and features steep tile roofs. The building has two storeys with attics.
On the south side, there is a single gabled bay that projects forward, featuring a timber canted bay window on the ground floor. The first-floor window above has a sandstone lintel and sill, a pointed relieving arch, and three sashes without glazing bars. Above this is a one-light casement attic window. To the right of the gabled bay is a range that includes a ground-floor window with two sashed lights, also without glazing bars, while the upper part is blind.
In the angle between the projecting bay and the left-hand range, there is a later 19th-century glazed addition with French windows. Each side of the central gabled bay has tall multi-flue stacks with a zig-zag plan. The door, located in the left-hand return wall, features a chamfered surround with a pointed head and a hood with carved stops, and it is covered by a glazed porch.
