Description
The Clock Tower, built in 1892, is located in the Market Place of Willenhall. Constructed from sandstone, it is designed in the Jacobean style and has a square plan divided into three stages by cornices. The lowest stage features drinking fountains on the north and south sides, set within foliated semi-circular recesses, each with projecting semi-circular bowls. On the west side, there is a round-headed doorway, while the east side displays a horse trough with an inscription that reads: "Erected by the Friendly Societies of Willenhall and his fellow townsmen May 10th 1892. In memory of Joseph Tonks."
The middle stage includes a recess on each side, each containing two blind arches. Below the upper cornice, there are iron lamp brackets at each corner, which now hold 20th-century lamps. The upper stage is tapered and features a clock face set forward on each side, each with a carved stone border. The stone cap of the tower is adorned with a carved shell motif within a semi-circular pediment on all four sides, and above this, there is an iron weathervane.
