Description

The Tunnel Cottages at Nos 1 and 2 Masshouse Lane, Kings Norton, date from the late 18th century and are situated near the entrance to Wasthill Tunnel on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. The cottages are built of painted brick with a tiled roof. They are two storeys high and consist of six bays, with the bays of No 1 being wider than those of No 2. A dentilled eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The windows of No 1 are mostly modern, with the exception of one segment-headed casement window on the ground floor. In contrast, the windows of No 2 are more irregular and feature larger segment-headed windows. A good 19th-century studded door and knocker are present.
