Description

The entrance to Wasthill Tunnel on the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, located on Shannon Road in Kings Norton, dates from 1796 to 1797. It features an elliptical brick wall with a voussoired arch that includes a prominent keystone. Above the arch is a stone band, and above that is a large tablet stone, which is now illegible. The tunnel itself is 2,726 yards long.
