Description
The Master's House and Hall at Broadway Comprehensive School is a single-storey hall made of red brick with terracotta dressings, which is adjacent to a two-storey and attic master's house built in a similar style at the southern end. The building features a steep hipped slate roof with a central squat square tower that rises from the west front, positioned between two half-octagon bays. This tower is topped with a terracotta flying crown or cupola, which is balustraded and finialed.
On the west side, there is a doorway with a hood, supported on one side by the adjoining bay and on the other by a large decorative console. The master's house has an asymmetrical corner plan with shaped gables and a corner squat octagon turret. The upper stage of the turret is dressed with terracotta and features gargoyles at the corners, topped with a lead dome. Additionally, there is a bowed terracotta porch located in the re-entrant angle facing Priestley Road, which also has a lead dome. The hall's elevation on this side showcases a closely set range of semi-dormers.
