Description
The lodges linked by flanking walls to the east front of Aston Hall date from around 1635 or possibly a slightly later 17th century addition. The brick walls step down from the outer corners of the wings on the entrance front, extending east to terminate in the lodges, creating a symmetrical frame for the approach to the Hall. The walls feature weathered brick coping. The lodges are small, square in plan, and two storeys high, constructed of red and diapered brick with stone dressings. They have two-storey oriel bays at the front, adorned with strapwork cresting and shaped finialed gables, similar to those found on the Hall. External chimney stacks are located on the outer sides, featuring clustered octagonal shafts.
