36 and 37, Sheepcote Street B16

Nos 36 and 37 on Sheepcote Street are a pair of late 19th-century brass works built between 1875 and 1880. This two-storey building is constructed of finely detailed red brick, continuing the design style seen in Nos 28 to 31. It features an engineering brick plinth and a brick entablature at the impost level on the ground floor, with a similar entablature between the floors and a cornice acting as a sill course for the first floor. The building has a bed mould to the frieze and a moulded brick eaves cornice, with all mouldings made from cut and shaped brickwork. The slate roof is topped with corniced chimneys. The façade includes three arched windows, flanked by a round arched loading bay and an office entrance. To the right, there is a broad segmental arched wagon way with a small doorway that provides access to stairs at the far end. The first floor features a slightly irregular arrangement of six segmental arched windows, which are recessed for one order, with reveals extending down to the cornice between the floors.
