Description
The Roving Bridge on the Tame Valley Canal, located northwest of Salford Junction, dates from around 1837 to 1840. It is a cast iron bridge made by Horsely Ironworks, featuring plain design with X pattern parapets that are cast as a single piece. The bridge has a bolted deck and is slightly arched. It is supported by brick abutments that have a triple concave return in ashlar stone leading to the towpath approaches.
