Description
The Grand Union Canal Aqueduct over the River Tame, located just south of Salford Junction, was constructed in the early 1840s, with this section of the Birmingham and Warwick junction opening in 1844. It is a brick-built aqueduct featuring three low elliptical stone voussoir arches. The structure has a deep roll-moulded ashlar string and saddleback parapet coping, which is broken forward over flat buttress piers with battered sides.
