Description
The Public Baths on Nechells Park Road were opened in 1910 and designed by Arthur Harrison. This building features a brick structure with cream terracotta dressings. It has a two-storeyed central section flanked by single-storeyed wings, creating a total of six bays. The central section has casement windows on the ground floor, arranged in a rhythm of two, three, and two, separated by columns. On the first floor, there is a single casement window beneath a broad curved pediment that displays the arms of the City of Birmingham. The entrances for women and men are located in polygonal turrets that end in open cupolas. To the left and right of the central section are the baths, which are lower and have casement windows arranged in triplets, also divided by columns. On the right side, at the corner of Nechells Park Road and Aston Church Road, the sixth bay features a triplet of casement windows topped by a curved pediment with an obelisk.
