Description
This is a pair of semi-detached houses at 95 and 95A Harborne Road, along with the adjacent house at number 97, dating from the 1830s and 1840s, and subsequently altered. The houses are built of stucco with a slate roof. They are two storeys high and, while symmetrical overall, Nos 95 and 95A have three bays each, while No 97 has two. Running along the front are six giant pilasters decorated with a Soanian incised pattern, which support the eaves entablature. Around 1860, Nos 95 and 95A were given three ground floor canted bay windows, featuring moulded shafts and patterned slate roofs. The first-floor windows have shutters. The main entrance to No 95 is on the right-hand return, marked by a pedimented frame supported by pilasters. What was the coach house and connecting link to No 95 is now No 95A, and the entrance to it is the former subsidiary door in the link. No 97 has simple sash windows with glazing bars on both ground and first floors. It has an entrance within a timber porch set in the angle of the return and the link, which also features giant Soanian pilasters. The coach house associated with No 97 has been removed.
