Description

No. 56 High Street is an early 18th-century building constructed of red brick with stone dressings. It features a machine-tiled roof adorned with cavetto and ovolo stone cornice mouldings, along with three pedimented dormers. The building has a plinth and stands two storeys high with attics, and a brick band runs along the first floor. There are six sash windows with glazing bars set in broad frames beneath painted lintels, each with moulded keystones. The entrance includes a door with a rectangular fanlight that also has glazing bars, framed by panelled pilasters, a frieze, and a cornice hood. To the right, there is an elliptical arch with a keystone. Nos. 42 to 52 (even) and No. 56 form a group.
