Description
Nos 36A and 38 on High Street are early 18th century buildings made of red brick with stone dressings. They feature a machine-tiled roof with a stone dentil cornice and two dormers topped with wooden pediments. The buildings are two storeys high with attics and have four sash windows with glazing bars set in broad frames, all under curved drip moulds with channelled keystones. There is a central dummy window and a fluted Doric pilaster on the left side beneath an entablature. A modern shop front has been added. On the right side of the ground floor, there is a rusticated elliptical arch with a keystone that displays a raised crest of a demi-lion crowned. Nos 36, 36A, and 38 are part of a group.
