Description
Bournville School of Art and Crafts, built between 1902 and 1905 by W Alexander Harvey, was originally called Ruskin Hall and was inspired by J H Whitehouse, a friend of John Ruskin. The building features brick construction with stone dressings and a tiled roof, presenting an irregular L-shaped layout. On the left side, there is a cabled bay, and the roof slopes down low over the main hall, which includes a tall, narrow gabled stairwell on the right. The broad gabled short arm of the L features a prominent canted bay window. At the angle, there is a low stone porch accessed by steps, topped with a square sculptured panel above the segment-headed entrance. All windows include mullions and mostly transoms, with dormer windows in the roof fitted with leaded lights. To the right, there is a modern extension that is not of special interest.
