Description
Nos 45 and 46 George Road are a pair of semi-detached three-storey townhouses built around 1830. They are constructed of red brick and feature subtle Grecian stucco details. Each house has a three-bay front and sits on a shallow plinth. The eaves cornice is moulded stucco, leading to a low-pitched gable end slate roof, with brick chimneys that are both flanking and centered. The windows decrease in size from the ground floor to the upper floors and are revealed glazing bar sashes with flat gauged arches and block stucco sills. The central doorways are framed by rosette-studded stucco architrave surrounds, plain friezes, and shallow cornices topped with scrolled anthemion pattern cresting. The panelled doors include rectangular fanlights, with No 46 retaining its marginal glazing.
