Description
Wainbody Wood Farmhouse is a circa 17th-century timber-framed cottage range that was later faced with red brick in the 18th and 19th centuries. The eastern end was partly rebuilt in the 19th century using red brick and sandstone ashlar. Timber framing is visible in the east gable and inside the building. The roof is steeply pitched with plain tiles and gabled ends. The older portion has a brick modillion eaves cornice.
The farmhouse has one storey and an attic on the older portion and two storeys on the newer eastern end, but with a continuous eaves level. The original section features two plank doors and three segmentally headed, two-light casement windows. Three flush-gabled dormers have two-light casements with glazing bars. The later eastern portion includes a plank door and a three-light stone mullion casement with glazing bars. At first floor, there is a square-headed, two-light casement window with glazing bars. There are two brick chimney stacks, one central along the ridge and one at the west gable.
