Description

The Congregational Chapel, originally built by Independents around 1758, is located on Brook Street and was enlarged in 1798 and 1825. The interior features a rectangular room with a gallery supported by slender pillars on three sides. There is 'Regency' plaster decoration on the wall behind the pulpit, which is centrally located behind the communion table, along with 19th century pews. The chapel's exterior has a stucco pedimented front with pilasters, dating from 1825. The Congregational Chapel and Gateway together form a group.
