Description
59A Warwick Street is a former stables and coach-house, now functioning as a shop. It was built around 1826 and has undergone some later alterations. The building is constructed of pinkish-brown brick and features a Welsh slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has one first-floor window with an arched opening on each side. The entrance is located in a right round-arched opening, which contains a plate-glass door, and the wall above is finished with copings.
The main range has a chamfered plinth that is interrupted by a plate-glass window set in a moulded surround. There is a cornice at the first floor, with pilaster strips on the ends and sides of the window. The central window is a 6-pane casement with a sill. Above, there is a double frieze decorated with a Greek key motif, topped by a cornice. The roof is shallow and pyramidal in shape.
The interior has not been inspected. Historically, Warwick Street was laid out between 1822 and 1826. This building is adjacent to No.59 Warwick Street on the right, which is connected to the rear of No.42 Parade, serving as its stable block.
