Description
The Lord Leycester Hotel, located at 19 Jury Street, is a three-storey building dating from 1781. The façade features five windows with sashes set in plain brick reveals. The entrance is highlighted by a pedimented doorcase supported by attached Doric columns and an entablature, topped with a semi-circular fanlight and a modern half-glazed door. The panelled door reveal has an open pediment, and the windows are adorned with flat arches and glazing bars. There was previously an incongruous glass canopy over the doorcase. On the right side, there is a large entry with two eight-fielded panelled doors. The building has a wood cornice at the eaves and is covered with Welsh slates. Inside, fragments of an earlier structure suggest that part of the building may have an earlier origin and was likely "E" shaped in plan. The listed buildings on the north side, from Nos 17 to 37, form a group.
